Dear Members,
What started as PHXFlyer's simple and automatic temporary 6-day ban for receiving too many infraction points has been made significantly worse by his repeated attempts (more than 5 times) to logon as the Admin of this site, as you can see from the warning we received below: Quote:
This is a very serious infraction and one we will not tolerate. Had he gained access as an Admin, he would have been able to erase the entire forum. Let this be a warning to all users, if you attempt to logon as an Administrator, you will be banned. This is not the first time PHXFlyer has been banned. He will be given one last chance two months from now. If he receives another automatic ban upon his return, it will be his last. |

I think this will come as a surprise to absolutely no one. And to BCSH......with this new news and my kind of switchover to the consumer side...what's the score now?

The Judge wrote...
what's the score now? First, one is assuming PHX's banning sticks. I don't know if the Administrator is Catholic (and I'm not asking,) but it seems, with the proper "contrition," bans can be lifted. As to my feelings on the lifting of such a ban: I'll adopt the John Gotti posture---and "take the 5th." Whether the consumer now has a greater voice (assuming said ban sticks) obviously depends on how many airline employees have, recently, been allowed to join, and how many of the latter are regular posters. I would need to go-though the membership list, again, to get an accurate figure but if The Judge has come-over to the consumer side, and PHX's ban sticks, the consumers may have made a small gain, but the airline side still rules. As I've indicated previously, prior to today, this board was 2 to 1, or 66%, favoring the airlines among regular posters and, also, all members. With regard to PHX's concern about disclosure of his IP address: Unless someone has a subpoena in-hand, what value is there to an IP address??? |

I don't think one side having more or less than the other changes anything. If the OP posts a complaint that everyone agrees is in the wrong than that's how it's going to be, there can be complaints where everyone feels the OP is in the right, and then there are complaints that no one will agree either way. Having a label and/or being pro/con doesn't mean anything when it comes to the stance of each individual complaint. Just because one side has more than the other doesn't mean the individual has to follow the majority logic in each complaint.

Everyone agrees??? Everyone feels the OP is in the right??? No one will agree either way??? I don't remember a single complaint on here that went 100% either way.
I only jokingly mentioned the "score" cuz Butch lots of times will use the "66%" phrase. Just wanted to know if it equalled out a bit more.

Are we quick to forget even this recent post?
http://www.airlinecomplaints.org/sho...4564#post14564 And there have been similar posts such as this one, or like the ones I mentioned. |

Well, I am not one for banning anyone, despite my regular run-ins with Phx on this forum. However, the attempt to disable the administrators log-in was a bit much.
I think it is irrelevant what the actual "score" is between 'pro' and 'anti'. On the whole, I am 'anti' airline and 'pro' consumer, but I have had my moments of agreeing with the airline or even more shocking, agreeing with Bob or Phx, as Bob points out! It is the nature of these types of websites that people will take a contrary and argumentative point of view. If you read "my3cents" you will find much the same there... people on the internet are disinhibited, rude and aggressive. It is not for everyone, but if we are all adults, my view is let it be. On that basis, I regret Phx's permanant banning. On the other hand, he was warned and ultimately the person paying for this site has control.. and rightly so. Bye, bye Phx... it was fun while it lasted. Jim |

Well I think he got what he deserved, but I do not understand that he only received his permanent ban for trying to log on as admin. He should have been thrown out a long time ago for his constant knife twisting and laughing at other people's misfortunes. Some people on this site actually seem to be a bit depressed that this idiot has gone.
But speaking from a purely consumer's point of view, I think it is excellent news for this site. It is just a shame he wasn't banned one month ago, around the time I put my problem on this site. PHX did nothing but ridicule, poke fun, and twist the knife, from day one. He repeatedly missed my point on purpose, and made several idiotic remarks designed to provoke a reaction from myself. I think what a few people are forgetting here is that the stories posted on here are really happening to someone (in my case it was a living nightmare that didn't improve for 2 weeks), and when you have got some spiteful ******** like PHX making snidey comments towards you, it just makes the problem 10 times worse. For me he was a nasty piece of work and he has no place on a website such as this which is supposed to help the passenger, not take the mickey out of them. Good riddance! I just hope they chucked away the key! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

chrisal, those insulting remarks went both ways. And just because he's gone now, doesn't mean you're not getting reported for abusive language.

Chris:
As long as you're here could you fill us in on the outcome of your trip to the Tyneside. Did you arrive per the schedule? Were the (Delta) ground, and flight, staff within the limits of civility? Or were you threatened with exile to Guantamano? |

Chrisal,
I do understand your frustration.. I just think the net is one of the few places left where truly free speech still exists... but I can see your point. I hope your Christmas and New Year in Tyneside with your gf turned the situation around and she is enjoying our picturesque snow scenes! |

Gromit, report me if you like, I don't care! PHX was a nasty piece of work who unfortunately brought the worst out in me, and I'm sure many other people. His constant digs and wind-ups do not have a place on a site such as this, and only serve to bring a reaction out in people. People who I'm sure PHX knows are already close to the edge.
Butch, all went well with Delta on my flight home. I had a long chat with the manager at the airport in BA before I left and he was nothing but apologetic. He was also happy to hear that my gf had got a full refund on her ticket. I also spoke to a couple of the check-in girls who know me and told them the full story. They couldn't believe it! Got to Atlanta early on Xmas Eve and because my flight wasn't until the evening, I hopped on a train to the city centre and spent the day wondering round. Got my flight in the evening and arrived into snowy Manchester on Xmas Day, 18 days later than expected! My poor brother was there waiting for me and we drove back to Newcastle. Arrived home at 1 o'clock and was greeted by my gf who arrived on Xmas Eve to Newcastle with Brit Airways, and the rest of my family. Then we ate turkey. So it was a pretty long journey and I was tired as hell, but Delta did get me home... eventually! Jim, the difference between you and PHX is that you CAN see the other person's point of view, whereas PHX never could (I'm sure he could but he refused to acknowledge them because he would then lose an arguement!) With regard to the snow, my gf is loving it! We made the biggest snowman I have ever made the other day. We are going to Dublin, Rome, Edinburgh at the end of the month so hopefully the snow will have gone by then. Shame I have to pay Ryan Air for the flights again, as they don't do refunds. Thanks Ryan Air!!! |

Chrisal,
I hope you are an experienced Ryanair flyer... cos until you fly, the worst is yet to come. Make sure your bag is not one gram over 15kg and fits in their smaller box!! Sounds like you are going to have a fantastic trip... lets hope it goes a bit smoother than your Delta experience. |

OK, with lots going on in life I have been away for a few weeks and just came across this. I'll be the first to say it: Whisky Tango Foxtrot. As far as the motivations for trying to do this, I can only speculate, but I will say that even as much as I'm on here, I'm not that wrapped up in all of this. Also what on earth would he try for passwords?????? That had to be just outright shots in the dark.

I think it is a matter of regret that he was banned, and frankly, I think the board is a bit diminished by his departure. He clearly sailed too close to the wind. On the whole, vigorous debate online is to be encouraged not discouraged.
I found cicero's posts tiresome and his joke was old, stale and taken too far. I didn't however ask for him to be banned, send PM's to the administrator about him or engage him. I just ignored him. That is what the net is all about. If you don't agree or like a poster, just ignore them. |

I just logged on after several months of inactivity to discover that this crazy guy was finally banned from the forum. He was a disruptive force and clearly had professional motivations driving his endless anti-consumer drivel. I am delighted to say the least, but I'm also curious as to how the ban can really be permanent or effective. What's to prevent PHX from getting a new IP address (as he's pointed out) and creating a different user name altogether?

AADFW,
There is nothing to stop him from getting another IP address and continuing.. but I doubt he'll be back. |
