Thumbs down Flight Cancelled for Tomorrow from DEN to Portland, ME?

I booked for my kids and grandkids to come visit us tomorrow (through Expedia, as always)- they just now got a call that the flight apparently has been cancelled. On the phone for about 2 hours with people in India (?), barely speaking English, no explanation was offered to the question 'why was the flight cancelled?' - they offered another connection which would have made them be in and out of airports/flights from 6 AM to midnight... with a 5yr old and a 1 1/2 yr old!!! So, they re-booked for Monday.
Is this flight really cancelled and why? Would anyone know? Thanks for listening. Christina

Their website and a couple of flight status websites I checked don't have a reason for the cancellation listed. The flight from DCA to PWM is still operating though. I would say give it a few hours for them to get their flight status updated in their system, and give them a call back. If you get someone in "India" that you cannot understand, tell them you cannot understand them and would like to speak with someone in the US. Or you could try calling the Mileage Plus number at 1.888.467.0507, good luck!

Unfortunately the International Call Center that United uses in India and the Philippines do not connect passengers to anyone in the U.S. Those restricted numbers are for Premier Executives and Global Service only.
