Default "$9.00 Club" Spirit airline

This situation has happened several times but this time it finally irked me. I joined the $9.00 club in order to get cheap fares. I received an email yesterday mid-morning showing $9.00 fares from FLL to LGA and visa versa. I went straight to book flights and no $9.00 fares were available. Today again the same is advertised and no $9.00 fares. Mind you this has happened other times. I called and the person I spoke to could only repeat a script therefore was no help. How can they continue to advertise these fares and than have none available maybe they should say when they are all gone.

You are talking about south Florida to New York. That is a very popular route. You have to consider how many other people are on that mailing list. They also may only have a few of those seats available, but if you are not quick enough you won't get it.

Of course, the other possibility is that Spirit are an outrageous con seeking to exploit customers.... which do you think it is?

Default $9 Fare Club

My complaint has to do with automatically enrolling me in the club when I cancelled it last year. I joined in May of 2008 at which time I did use it for one trip. Last year in May I noticed that they charged me without me authorizing it. I called and spoke to someone in India who could barely speak English and was told that they would not refund the membership, even though it was only 2 days after the debit. At that time I asked them to remove me from automatic debit and cancel my membership. Last week they again charged me $59.95!! I didn't authorize it nor have I booked reservations in almost 3 years. I tried calling them @ 800 number and was on hold for 20 minutes got a live person who told me they would transfer me to a different department 45 minutes later I hung up, no one ever came on the phone. I called the corporate office number 954 447-7828 it's a recording, unless you have an extension number it just hangs up after giving you the option to press prompts that send you back to India. I filled out a complain with the FTC yesterday today I will go to my bank and fill out a fraud complaint to try to get my money back that way. Also, I sent Spirit an email complaint via their website they never replied.

Default $9 Special Fare Club

I too am disputing a $59.95 annual membership fee Spirit debited from my account at Bank of America.

Last year I bought a $39.95 annual membership in the $9 Spirit special fare club. I used the airlines once, found it lacking in everything from service to cleanliness to helpfulness to professionalism. They also lost my luggage and in the end their discounted flight ended up costing me more because reserving seats and sending bags costs additional fees.

I vowed never to fly Spirit again and would have never thought about them again had on August 11 a $59.95 renewal fee ($20 increase from the year before) not been debited from my bank account. I contacted Spirit a few times but as all the agents are Indian and their English is limited and waiting to speak to a membership agent takes 30-40 minutes, I hung up the phone and contacted them by email.

Their answer was received today and they said that I had agreed to fees of the $9 Fare Club, that the annual fees are nonrefundable and because they are bound by these conditions, they would be happy to issue me a credit shell of $59.95 toward a future flight. I don't want a credit to fly on Spirit because I will never fly them again. Second and more importantly, I never authorized them to take out annual dues every year, never was told that the fees had increased from $39.95 to $59.95 and was never advised that the membership fee for 2010 was about to expire and was I interested in renewing for 2011. They have my email address - you would have thought they would have had the decency to give me a "heads-up" before going into my bank account. What a violation!!

I want a complete credit reversal and for them to cancel my membership in the $9 club. This is a despicable airline and I know that they have pulled this maneuver on other customers. There are other complaints about this $9 club on the Airplane Complaint Forum. I don't want them to get away with it. I feel your pain! The more that complain the better chance we have that they will be forced to deal "honestly" with consumers!

Spirit Airlines are total thieves and theft reports to FAA need to be iniitated by all that have been victims of Spirit Airlines thefts and fraud. Why do all of you people take this lying down? That is why Spirit continues to steal from people. So long as you allow them to continue they will only get worse adn sneakier . Stand on your two feet adn fight back Americans!
