I travel for work every week and have been a silver member with US Airways pretty consistently for the 11 years I've been traveling. I paid over $600.00 for 3 one way tickets. When my friend (who is very friendly and a joker at heart) and I boarded our first flight, we were seated in an exit row and my friend said to the passengers around us that they have the right person in the exit row, that he would be the last one off the plane and make sure that everyone was taken care of first. After we sat down, a member of the airlines came to us and asked us to grab our belongings and come with him as he escorted us off the flight. When we asked what we were taken off the flight for, we were told for intoxication. My friend had 2 beers prior to our flight and was not by any means intoxicated. We did not fight them, we didn't delay the flight, the cops weren't called. As a frequent traveler, I respect the decision they made if they thought he was intoxicated, but he was not. When we got home, we called the customer service number where we were told to email a complaint on the web site. I did this, asking for a refund or at least to waive the change fees it would cost to use those tickets we purchased, but were not able to use. I reached out twice with both responses saying they wouldn't refund my money or waive the change fees. I'm not sure where customer loyalty comes in, but they have lost it as far as I'm concerned. I don't understand how any business can justify losing a customers business that generates more money than the average vacation traveler over not waiving $450.00 of change fees. The sad part is I favor US Airways over any other airlines and now I am forced to choose another carrier for my business travels due to lack of customer service and appreciation of customer loyalty.
