Default Infant Carriers

12/29/11 flight# 1678
On a full flight there was an INFANT CARRIER behind me prohibiting me from reclining my seat and the seat in front of me was fully reclined leaving me to sit in a taco shell for 6 hours! WHY DO I HAVE TO COMPROMISE MY SEAT FOR AN INFANT CARRIER!!!! UN SAFE! UN FAIR! DISRESPECTFUL!
CONTINENTAL AIRLINES IS INCOMPETENT!

Sometimes this happens. Infants are not safe in any other type of seating. People on the back row can't recline either. You either put it down to chance, you were unlucky or direct your wrath at the airline for inadequate spacing of seats. Anger directed at the parent using a child seat is misdirected. They were acting entirely properly.

I did not express anger at the parent but at the airlines. Sitting in the window seat, not only was I unable to recline my seat, the seat in front of me was broken and spilled into my section. I couldn't even put down my tray table because it landed in my chest and I'm not a big gal. My flight was SIX HOURS!!!!!!!! This is BEYOND unfair and completely UNACCEPTABLE! I paid my inflated holiday ticket price, why should I have to compromise what little comfort I have in a coach seat for lack of proper infant handling on board? I expect to be reimbursed and have made my complaints to the airline as well as the Aviation Consumer Protection Division.

Sorry, I misunderstood. I quite agree with your anger directed at the airline. If they allowed a broken seat to compromise your safety, they may well have broken a rule... try complaining to the DOT as well. There is a link in the Quick LInks section of this website.
