I am a frequent flyer with BA, Emirates and Etihad.
Two weeks ago, I went to Heathrow check in with a 30kg suitcase + 15kg golf bag. I had prepaid for an extra bag so my allowance was 23kg + 23kg. The check in lady said I had to pay excess baggage on the big bag (£100 - £150) or repack it down to 23kg. So I repacked kilo by kilo. Even at 25kg her and her supervisor wouldn't allow it, at which point I really lost my temper. I was at check in for half an hour and it ruined my flight to Dubai before it started. I have since been UAE to Khazakhstan return, on Etihad, 30kg no problem, only a raised eyebrow. Next week I am going back to London on Etihad, I would not use BA. The incident will cost BA thousands in lost revenue from me and my family alone. These people seem to hate the passengers and they are damaging their employer, BA. If BA train them that way then it's managements fault. As a proud Brit it pains me to say it but Emirates and Etihad are better than BA, especially at Heathrow. |

If you knew that BA luggage allowance is 23K, why did you pack a 30K bag then get angry with the BA agent because you were over the allowance?? Everyone expects an exception to made for them, but if they let you go 1K over, then the next psgr will want 2K extra allowance, and the next one 3K, ad infinitum. Next time, either adhere to the airlines rules, or choose an airline with a more generous allowance. It's that simple.
