Default shame on Qatar airways

reference booking: 59PCFC
flight number:
Qatar Airways (QR 617)

yesterday, my partner, myself and my 2 kids were supposed to fly to argentina at 5.10 pm from ho chi Minh.

we bought our one way tickets online with opodo.

we are french.

when we arrived at the airport at 1.30 pm, it was still too early for the luggages check-in.
we went for a walk and went back to the open counters at 2.30 pm.

the very rude staff took our 4passports and asked us to wait in order to check our flight tickets.

10minutes later, they came back and just told us that we could not get onboard because we did not have a way back or exit ticket from argentina.

so we tried to buy 4more tickets from argentina to Uruguay (very upset as it should not be a surprise for the customer when he spends over 3000 euros for a company.
for some reason, our credit card did not work, after one hour of trying, we finally got our 4new tickets,

the plane was leaving 1hour later but nobody accepted to talk to us, they did not even pay attention to our new tickets(they even dared to tell us that what i was showing them hotel reservation without even looking at my iPad screen.)

they were closing and cleaning their counters and we were all there waiting for somebody to care of us.

they were speaking vietnamese and laughing, i felt like a real idiot, giving my money away to those disgusting peoples.

i asked to talk to a manager or anybody else able to help us out, but they told me that everybody was busy for the boarding and they won't come to help….

i am still in vietnam, my visa expires today,

i called the main agency in ho chi mihn yesterday with a tourist's mobile and they briefly told me that i would have to pay an extra money (more than 1000euros) if i want to fly today because tonights plane would be full in the economic class…..

i checked that on your website and they still had more than 6 seats available in economic class.

this is a real lack of knowledge and professionalism.
this kind of people should not even exist in such a company if you really care for your customer service.

what about my extra expenses, taxi, hotel room?

is it all?
is it the way Qatar airways treat the customers?
is it the way a family with 2 young kids should be treated?
what is going to happen with my visa??
why should i even pay an extra money and leave you guys mistreat my family and my wallet?

It's an unfortunate situation, but you cannot blame the airline for your failure to determine what documentation is required to enter a country. It is always the travelers responsiblity to have the correct documentation. French citizens require a return ticket, as do all other EU, Canadian, and U.S. nationals:

Passport required
Return ticket required
Visa required
Australian

No
British

To enter Argentina, a valid passport is required by all nationals referred to in the chart above. The passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the date of departure from Argentina.

Stefcalie: were you expecting more sympathy from the followers of this forum than you did from those on VoyageForum?
Are you convinced now that the only one to blame for the problems you experienced is you and only you?
If you have not already done so, you might want to post your story also on Flyertalk and see what reaction you get there...

Funnily enough, in this post you forget to mention as you do on the French forum that after making a scene at the local QR office, they agreed to change your tickets for free. That's quite generous from them given that they had done nothing wrong. It also tends to confirm that QR live up to their reputation of an outstanding airline, commonly rated amongst the best ones around (and no, I do not work for them).

Consider yourself lucky and learn the lesson: next time, make sure you make yourself familiar with the immigration requirements of the countries you are visiting. That should make your journeys more enjoyable.

"funnily enough", let me laugh, don't you know that i am flying..... a 38 hours flight.....

do you think that you know all the posts i made on internet concerning Qatar airways, more than 10....

if people don't react to my posts i could not find them back to actualize them...

i went back on voyage forum because i had many people talking on this post.

and yes sometimes you do need to yell at people to make them understand that they have to do something...

sur ce, petit fan, défendeur de qatar, je te souhaite une bonne journée toujours dans ton canapé, car oui il doit surement s'agir du même que voyage forum....

Ok, no sympathy from here, you did not make a small mistake, you made a HUGE mistake by not checking the VISA requirements, i am sure you would blame Qatar for inconveniencing you , if they had let you fly and you were for sure rejected and sent back from Argentine.

Let me be the judge of whether I am wasting my time...
I did not need to contribute to your post on VF as others gave you exactly the same replies as you would find here.
To make matters clear: I never thought a single second that your story was invented. As others did, I merely pointed out that whatever happened was solely YOUR fault and certainly not QR's.
I travel extensively and one of the golden rules of doing that is to thoroughly prepare and research the requirements to visit the countries of your itinerary.

Having said that, chère petite tête en l'air râleuse, je vais suivre votre conseil et retourner à mon canapé pour consciencieusement préparer mon prochain voyage.
