Mrs
We had missed our flight to Phuket EK 378 on 19th April 2013 from Dubai to Phuket due to miscommunication on Emirates part. My husband and I stood in a very long queue for our luggage to be checked in at Dubai airport counters. There were only 2 check in attendants on duty, when we got to the counter, after waiting in the queue for over two hours, it was half an hour before the flight could take off, we were told. That the flight is closed and we cannot board.
We were told that Dubai Airport is a silent airport and they do not use the PA system to announce flights, this gets done verbally and they did verbally announce the flight which was a lie because as long as we stood in the very long queue we did not hear the flight been announced. The only flight that we heard that they called out was for Bagdad.
We incurred additional costs for accommodation, taxi fares and meals, we also lost out a day in Phuket.
The flight that was missed was from Dubai to Phuket, flight no: EK 378 at 12.00pm on the 19th April 2013. Re-booking was made for the 20th April 2013 on Flight no: EK 378 for 10.35am
We lodged complaints with the Emirates offices and were given a reference JNB/X/CK/060513/6860148 and were advised that it takes 30days to investigate. To this day we have heard absolutely nothing from Emirates. When we lodged a complaint on their “Facebook” page, someone called and said that we will be contacted. This was done on three occasions. This is very, very poor customer service, this is not the first time that we flew on Emirates.
