TO WHOM MAY CONCERN José Dantas da Costa British Airlines 39, Chester Road Ref.: Complain PARWOOD - RSA My name is José Dantas da Costa, and I will like to forward a complaint about what happen today at the Airport O.R Tambo. Starting from leaving the place where I was staying, I requested a TAXI to pick me up at 06:30 to take me to Rosebank Gauteng Station where it’s easier way to the Airport. Due to 94.7 Radio Station having a race, the road was blocked and no cars could come or go through. I had to make a plan to get to other side of Jan Smuts Avenue to make it easy to get pick up. I’ve book a ticket to Maputo for Sunday 17 November 2013 BA 6255 from an agency in FLIGTH CENTER atRosebank Mall - Johannesburg That made part of delay to get to the airport 2 hours before the flight. I got in the Gauteng Train and got at the airport at 07:30 am but I was attended at 08:00. The flight was at 09:00. Because the check-in is on the other side of the airport and also counting with the queue that British Airways (BA) counter B115. I eventually got to check in, but the problem started when their say that I had over weight (that I unpack rite there) on the luggage and make to pay R250.00 (two hundred and fifty rand) for the exceed weight. I did what their requested by taking the shrink wrap around the bag and their check in with my boarding pass and told me to run to the gate wish is on the other side of the airport that someone will be their waiting, still getting to passport control. When I got to the Gate A29, the Gate was closed. By then was 08:45. Someone told to go to the counter of BA which I did, but once more their told me to go out of the passport control and sorted out. I did that, but their say their don’t have an airline connection and I have to go the next day. That wasn’t what I expect from BA. Remember also I’m 61 years old…not a teenager. I’ve travelled all over the world in various air lines and never been treated like this before nothing like this ever happen to me until today. I was never late to get into a flight anywhere. I blame whoever in charge representing BA at O.R. Tambo Airport. Now we have the costs that I had to pay besides the inconvenience. Monday is a working day, so that half of the day is wasted. The extra cost of the ticket R80.00, the Gauteng Train 2 trips R 250.00, Taxi R350. 00, Wrapping twice R120.00, accommodation R1,000.00 and of course my time wasted. Total in R 1,750.00. I wouldn’t like to go to The Star Line or IATA to report this case, but if I don’t get any response I definitely will. If BA will like to get better service they have to listen some of the complaints, because I wasn’t the only person unhappy. I hope BA will respond to this letter and recognize the mistake they’ve made. With all respect and consideration Yours faithfully José Dantas da Costa |
