Default Surname Problems

Booked flights to Bangkok via Abu Dhabi with a travel agent.

Turns out my girlfriends name is incorrect on the ticket.

It is down as Martini when should be Pisani Martini.

Tried speaking with Etihad customer service (who were not very helpful) and travel agent who are adamant the only solution is to cancel the ticket and rebook at a cost of £330! It is an absolute joke.

Does anyone have any success stories with changing ticket details in this respect? Never been a problem with other airlines. Just feels like a money making exercise.

Default Etihad Disaster!!

After a multitude of phone calls it turns out that Etihad's unwillingness to be flexible or accommodating results in a further £330 to be paid in order to get the tickets rebooked.

Same flight, same time, same seats for an extra £330.

Absolute rip off. Fuming is an understatement.

It was either pay the extra or cancel the whole holiday with a massive loss.

Hi there!

We can understand this is a really inconvenient situation. Unfortunately, as you booked through a travel agent, this is what we have to charge to rebook your tickets. We can understand how frustrating this must be, but unfortunately we technically cannot change the name on the ticket, if issued through a travel agent. If it had been issued by us, we wouldn't need to rebook you.

Hope you will still have an amazing time with us - we will make sure to take good care of you. We know this isn't particularly great news, we just wanted to explain the reasons for this charge. We are sorry this happened to you.

You are being a bit disingenuous with the truth

I spoke with the telephone helpline and was advised that even when booking through an agent you can change up to three characters and more but on a discretionary basis.

The whole process is clearly designed for Etihad to generate additional income and has left a sour taste.

Regardless of how good your airline may or may not be I doubt that we will use you again purely for this experience and how it has been handled.
