Don't risk your flight and money with Air Astana!
Today me and my 22 weeks of pregnant wife couldn't fly to Bangkok via an Almaty transfer because of a series of inexplicable Air Astana services at Astana Airport.
At the counter officers wanted to see the official medical documentation required for pregnants which was supposed to prove my wife could fly on the date indicated in her ticket and confirming the period of pregnancy. This is a usual task we do so we showed the approval document from hospital which exactly shows what they asked. But Air Astana asked for another document in addition to what we had. We showed the paper and explained again, and showed the Air Astana English website too that our document had what website wanted us to prove, then they had internal phone calls which took more than 30 minutes, we waited all this time, and finally didn't let us board to our flight. We lost our ticket although we presented the necessary information and we showed up on time. We explained it was obviously written in Air Astana website in English and we followed the instructions. I explained the situation to 2 duty officers and many other officers, but they couldn't explain what they had to see in the other additional document they asked for. (BTW my wife flied with Air Arabia from Astana to Sharjah with same way of paperwork 2 weeks ago.) After that when we wanted to take the following flight with this extra doc we brought from home, this time they said we had to pay penalty because of "no show"! I didn't agree with them that I obviously showed up on time but became late because of their internal calls, then I accepted to pay the penalty to just go on, but in 20 minutes they failed to arrange the following flight which departed an hour later than my booked flight, and finally I lost my connection too. In the end I had to pay a lot of money to get the ticket to day after. I lost my vacation bookings in Bangkok and paid really a lot of money in extra to Air Astana to fly Bangkok.
I have seen no exact help from Air Astana, no real guidance, no facilitation, consecutive failures and eventually I had to pay for all of them!
