Baggage lost, employees incompetent, incurred extra costs
On Feb 28 my wife and I were booked on flights from Calgary to Savannah with a change in Chicago. The flight to Chi was late and we missed our Savannah connection. We were booked then to Charleston where we were forced to rent a car and drive to Bluffton Sc, our destination and where we had hotel accommodations. Our luggage was not with us. So we opened an incident Z5K923. The following day after several apologies from folks in India we were informed that our bags were in Savannah at 10 am and would be delivered to our hotel. At 9pm we still did not have our bags and we were forced to drive to the Savannah air port where we found our bags in a locked room where they had been for 11 hours and there was no plan to get them to us. This is an example of unacceptable service. Additionally we incurred additional car rental charges ( charge is 27 cents per mile drop off) as well as no baggage for an extended period of time and the inconvenience of having to retrieve the bags ourselves. On our return trip one of our bags missed the connection in Chicago so once again we were without our luggage. This time our bag was located and delivered to our town. Again very inconvenient however far superior to our previous experience. I would appreciate some sort of acknowledgement of and reparation for our negative experience with respect to travelling with United.
