Delta 100% Horrible All Around
This refers to my flight from Minneapolis to New York City on January 5, 2016. I arrived at the airport 75 minutes before flight time as recommended on Delta's website, a few minutes before 8:00 a.m. for a flight at 9:10 a.m. I came with my boarding pass and then stood in the longest line I have ever stood in, in my entire life (including many international flights). It was almost the length of the entire Delta terminal. (I should have taken photos.) There were hundreds of people on this line. It took over 1 hour of standing on the line just to reach security. I could see that I was likely going to miss my flight at 9:10 a.m. I told this to two different Delta employees as I stood on the line and asked if I could move ahead in order to not miss my flight. They would not allow this. Also, while I was on line getting closer to the middle, a Delta employee came and took about 50-100 people off the end of the line to another check in point. Why weren't people like me who had already been waiting taken to another line, instead of the most recent arrivals? Upon clearing security, I ran to my gate, which was not anywhere close to my security check-in. Everyone had boarded the plane but there was one Delta employee at the desk and another at the boarding door, which had not yet closed. The woman at the desk asked the woman at the boarding door if I could board, and the woman at the door said, "no" and proceeded to go through the door and close it. What? So, of course, I missed my flight. Everyone I spoke to said that the delays were TSA delays but, of course, this is not accurate. Delta had other check-in points designated "Pre-Check" that were empty. This was entirely poor planning and terrible customer service by Delta. The woman at the gate said, "Well, everyone else got here on time." Her snide remark was insulting. The customer service person who got me on another flight said, "You should have been here 3 hours before the flight." Seriously, for a domestic flight? In what universe?!!!! I told her that their website said be at airport 75 minutes before a domestic flight, which I was. Agent then, again, blamed TSA. No one ever took any responsibility or apologized for these delays and all acted like I was at fault. I followed Delta's recommendations and they did not get me to my flight or destination on time. I had to wait 4 hours for another flight, four hours of my life that no one can give back to me, due to terrible service. Again, Delta would not acknowledge any wrong doing. I have never missed a flight in my life. I will do everything possible to avoid Delta in all future flights and I will make the same recommendation to family and friends. I have contacted Delta and, surprise, no one has responded to my complaints. They're too busy laughing all the way to the bank.
