Egypt Air Flight MS 839 - Unhygienic tattered plane
Egypt Air is by far the worst airline I have ever flown with. On 31 December I was en-route from Istanbul to Johannesburg via Cairo on both flights aka. Flight MS736 from Istanbul to Cairo and MS839 Cairo to Johannesburg, It was abundantly clear that hygiene is not very important.
Both planes was in a terrible state of disrepair with holes in the upholstery, tears in the little magazine folders in front of my chair and very outdated on flight entertainment which was nearly impossible to watch.
The most horrific part of my journey however occurred on flight MS839 from Cairo to Johannesburg. Besides the fact that both my arm- and foot rests were broken, the plane was literally crawling with bugs. By the time we disembarked in Johannesburg I had been bitten no less than 8 times on various parts of my body. The bite marks all became infected and I was forced to seek medical assistance because the swelling would not subside for more than a week.
After taking a strong course of Antibiotics however my nightly fevers, itching and swelling eventually subsided.
I informed Egypt Air of the incident and the awful experience I had during the flight. After my second e-mail, I received a short, extremely impersonal message in poorly written English informing me that they are sorry about my experience and that they will provide me with further feedback shortly.
Since then I have not received any communication from them and have since written two more e-mails to them which they blatantly ignored. I now feel obliged to warn fellow travelers of this incident.
It is clear that they have a blatant disregard for the health and safety of persons making use of their airline and furthermore has no regard for hygiene on their flights.
