Angry Caribbean Airlines

My flight was delayed by three hours, causing me to miss my connection to Dubai. I was given absolutely no notice of any delay: instead, upon arrival at the check-in counter the prescribed three hours before my flight was to depart, I was told that the flight would be delayed for two and a half hours because it had ‘landed late’ – a circumstance beyond the airline's control.
I was told that CAL could do nothing to help as I had not booked my flight to Dubai with them: a nonsensical statement as, since they do not fly to Dubai, it is not possible to book a flight to that destination through CAL.

Having tracked the aircraft in question, I know that it did not arrive late from Paramaibo as I was told, but had landed on time, and even as I was being lied to, was being readied to clear CAL’s ‘domestic backlog’ by transporting passengers on a domestic flight to Tobago, at 8.45 – fifteen minutes before the scheduled departure of flight BW524 for New York. The flight eventually left at 12.02. It was due to arrive at JFK at 1.20, giving me over three hours to connect to my 4.35 flight to Dubai, but landed after 4.p.m.

Upon arrival in New York after the departure of my Emirates flight I was forced to undergo a seven hour wait in -7° temperatures – dressed for Dubai – and to pay US$1300 for another ticket in the same class if travel.

Staff at CAL knew that I would miss my connection due to the decision to use the aircraft for purposes other than fulfilling its scheduled journey - perhaps this is the reason for the lies I was told. The supervisor requested a copy of my Emirates itinerary, so the airline was fully aware of my situation and deliberately elected to make me miss my connection, evidently deciding that any damages I suffered were inconsequential.

Caribbean Airlines has simply stated that they are unable to help.
