Flight Cancelled #5029
We had a wonderful family vacation in Casa De Campo in the Dominican Republic but everything went down the drain when our flight back from La Romana to Puerto Rico was cancelled. When we were planning the vacation we were looking for the cheapeast way to get there since we were 4 adults and 5 kids (we were also traveling with an 11 month old)
The options were fly to Santo Domingo and go in Taxi to La Romana which was $100 cheaper for each ticket or go to La Romana directly. SInce we were traveling with so many kids we decided to go for the more expensive option and avoid all the time in the taxi.
On Sunday june 14, our flight was scheduled to leave at 3:00pm. I decided to call at 1:00pm and check before going to the airport since all of our friends which had taken different flights to La Romana that week had their flights delayed. I called and they told me that the flight was cancelled and they did not know the reason. I was told to go to the airport to make the necessary arrangements. We went to the airport with all 6 kids and the option given to us for us to leave that day was take a taxi to Santo Domingo and leave in the 6:10pm flight to San Juan. We waited two hours at La Romana airport for the necessary changes to be made to our tickets. Then we took a taxi (which they paid $100) and hour and a half to get to Santo Domingo and get to the ariport 45 minutes before the flight left. We had to rush to get to the flight.
So at the end of the day we ended taking the flight that would have been a lot cheaper for us and had to go through all the trouble we wanted to avoid but worse.
