A puppy! My wife's Shi Zu weighs 3 pounds. What about yorkies, miniature schnauzers, toy poddles, and many, many others.
I hope this answers your question. Lonnie

true $300 is too much, but it is a flat rate so if it was a long range flight than it woudl be a fair amount in comparison to a human ticket. (my roundtrip flight EWR-SIN was $1700) so even though it is alot $300 is still alot cheaper than a human, but when the ticket isnt as expensive than it looks more relatively unfair, but its something that is charged and cant help anything about it
and also, what does the dog owner exactly expect in the crate? other than having the dog placed down gently? Does he/she expect someone to go down and feed, drink, groom and walk it? The reason that they dont allow food or water for the dog in the crate is due to the fact that during take off, landing and turbulance the contents will go all over the place and whatever was holding the substance could fly up and hurt/kill the pet dogs and other pets should never be allowed in the cabin (unless special needs dogs) as they are an inconviniance to other passengers, they bark, and if they need to go to the bathroom than what happens? and size does not matter? and you cant always control a dog or pet no matter how hard you train it or how much time you put into the pet, and besides how can someone deem if a dog is well mannered or not? So if you dont want to pay the fee, or if you dont mind the dog being in the crate, than leave your dog with someone who is responsible and can take care of the dog while you are away, at worst put it in a kennel till you get back......if your dog must go with you than obay the rules |

What airline was this? The airline I work for doesn't charge near that much for an "in cabin pet" and it is a major airline, which, like them all, charges fees for almost everything.

I am upset that the Airlines have taken off peanuts because someone may be allergic to them yet on my last vacation I had finally gotten off the high dose steriods for my asthma when i was seated next to a lady with her dachshund dog . Needless to say my vacation went to hell because I am allergic to dog and cat dander. The airline decided to move me not the lady with the animal. I paid extra for my extra leg room! Animals should not be allowed on a flight unless it is a Service animal and others should be made aware of that animal is going to be on board! exactly what is the Airline going to do when I completely close off my airway? There are more people allergic to animals than Peanuts!

And did you tell the airlines when you made your reservation, that you have pet allergies? You have some responsibility here, and ADA very likely has regulations about service animals, etc.

I'm reading some of these complaints how some think it's a scam. I'm hear to tell you the dr who writes a comfort letter without any past history of depression and anxiety is putting her license on the line. I for one have a 2 1/2 lb chi . In petrified to fly I have high anxiety just having her calms me where I'm not as anxious. I'm sure like anything else people are going to try to get a letter and there dr might comply . It isn't that easy and again any dr that issues one just like that can get in deep trouble. So people have to realize there will be dogs on the plane big dogs at that. I've seen them . it's either you takes plane and not complain or a bus or train there are other options.
