Default Short Notice for Cancellation

Booked on BA 8488 AGP-LCY 24/10/2012. Flight scheduled at 14:20, but received text at 09:00 cancelling flight. It gave a number to ring, but after ten minutes holding, I gave up. Went directly to the airport and arrived at 10:00. Saw a BA desk open and enquired what I should do. Nice lady put me on the 11:30 flight to LGW. However I would be interested to know what happened to the rest of the passengers on BA 8488 when they turned up for check-in.

They probably didn't go to the airport because they got a text telling them not to, and called the rebooking line instead.
