Default Presumptuous captain.

Hi,

I was on flight 254 out of Maui landing in LA on 9/28/07 at 2:45pm.

A woman booked the flight for her and her two old with seats that were not next to each other.

The flight attendant asked people if they were willing to move, which was cool.

The captain, over the intercom, said: "Come-on people, this is a two year old!!"

I do not think that was cool. If the captain, as an American a representative, has that strong of a feeling he should have offered a hundred bucks for the inconvenience or a seat in first class or something.

I think you are confusing the act of volunteering one's seat as opposed to an act of kindness. I've seen many a parents seperated from their kids (they don't book em that way, the flight was full and/or if they're on separate reservations that is what happens) and normally a person would give up their seat so that parent and child can sit together, i mean its just the right thing to do and should be done without looking for something to gain. Would you really wanna be sat next to a 2 year old who may cry for their parents or have the parents constantly over your shoulder so they can check if the kid is well fed, has drinks, maybe.... diaper change? really?
