Stranded in Tampa
I received an email from USAirways at 10 am, 3/9/14, informing us that our flight had been cancelled due to "maintenance". I saw the email at 11 am and immediately called US Airways for help. The agent stated that they had only 1 other flight to Philadelphia that day and it was full. She checked other airlines to Philadelphia, none had any availability. The best they could do was get us home the next day thru Charlotte, I told her that would not work as all 4 of us who were left stranded needed to get home. My son had a midterm college exam, my daughter who works to Childrens Hospital had a meeting/presentation to staff that could not be moved and my son in law had a business meeting. Needless to say we HAD to get home. Our only alternative was to fly to Atlantic City via Spirit Airlines at a cost of $900.00 for 4, and have my wife make the drive to AC airport to get us. All I ask is for US Air to re-emburse the difference between what it cast me and my refund for the return home. They did not. Again, this was not our fault and we HAD to get home we could not wait for Monday. US Air's lack of planning and total disregard of customer service is astonishing. I hope you can help.
