Where to start! at least 2 dozen of us are STUCK in Lima Peru, trying to get to Montevideo from Miami. This is our third day and at best it will be a FOUR day "EVENT" from MIA to MVD. We all have had to lug our MANY BAGS from airport to taxi, to hotel room, to airport, again to taxi and to hotel and tomorrow back to the airport. We are told by the hotel we are put up in tonight, Avianca has been doing this to passengers for a year. They are brought to this hotel by the bus load - stuck here after being lied to by Avianca. There is a young family with a baby and 2 other children that are on their third day as are most of us.
Carolina a supervisor in Miami told me the CEO and upper management are very aware of the problems. If I have been told the truth, which I DOUBT, this is a logistical problem or rotating planes for maintenance. Seems they don't PLAN the maintenance, they just pull planes out - whether they are in use or not. Sounds like GREED to me - take the money for fares and the hell with the passengers. They will get there eventually - maybe 4 or 5 days later. Who knows we are on day 3 and at best it would be 4 days. I won't go into detail of the trouble we had booking the flight - but 3 days for confirmation, different 'stories' from each customer service agent and 7 1/2 hours on the phone just one day. That should have been an omen. I had never flown Avianca and will NEVER fly them again. Please beware. Use ANY airline other than this one - they have totally RUINED our trip and NO ONE CARES. There is not enough money to compensate us for our time, ruined vacation and stress, but I want a total refund of our 2 round trip tickets. I am beyond words. AVOID AVIANCA.
