I had
this same problem in May 2008, with the fares dropping on tickets I bought in Jan. 2008. I was told we could receive a voucher for $54.00 for each ticket for use up until next Jan. Hello? What ever happened to just crediting my credit card for the difference? I won't be flying between Sept. and next Jan. so I'm out the money anyway. And then NWA had the nerve to charge my credit card another $30.00 for using a real person instead of online. Did anyone inform me that I would have to pay that charge? No, of course not.
On top of that nonsense, I asked if I did accept the vouchers would it change the fact that I was entitled to free additional baggage because I purchased the tickets prior to the March 29, 2008 cut off when NWA will begin charging for additional baggage checking beyond a bag a piece. I was told that wasn't a problem and I would still be allowed the free bags. Guess what?! No, the e-ticket number determines the free baggage vs. extra charge for baggage, so if we decide to take extra baggage, we have to pay the $25.00 fee per bag. Overall, this customer service (I use that term loosely) was just a bundle of errors from beginning to end.
We are stuck with vouchers we won't be using, a $30.00 additional charge on our credit card for using an agent, and now we can't take extra bags because someone didn't know what they were talking about.
If there were any option besides NWA, believe me, I'd be on it. Driving ain't lookin" so bad after all!!
