Default Cancelled Flts Still Makes Big Money

i Booked A Flt From Jacksonville,fl. To Wichita, Kn.(for 3 Adults) On 3 Different Dates. The First In June 08, The Second In July 08 And The Third In Aug 08.ticket Cost Increased About 20% Each Time. All Three Were Cancelled Between 3 And 4 Weeks After Booking. The Best I Can Figure They Made About $3.00 Dollars Interest (each Time)off My Money, Not Very Much, Now Multiply That By The Number Of Seats And The Number Of Flights Cancelled Each Day = Big Money

Are you saying the flts were canceled before the day of departure or on the day of departure?

If beforehand, the airline is obligated to get you to your destination with no extra cost to you. This could include using another airline which would NOT be cost effective for the canceling airline. Also, many people are put off by a cancelation and may take their business elsewhere. Some people may have purchased a seat with a ticket that is refundable and may ask for their money back. Many reasons why this is not profitable to an airline.

If the flight was canceled on the day of departure, alot more costs are now given to the airline. Depending on what caused the cancelation, hotels may need to be given if a passenger is required to stay all day or overnight. Most likely meal vouchers are handed out. Credit vouchers for future travel (which discounts a price you may pay later) could be given also. And of course, many passengers will want to go to a different airline resulting in loss of revenue. This is all not to mention that the plane did not make the trip so it has then lost a downline trip in many cases and those passengers will need to be compensated.

Your statement about airlines making money on canceled flights is flawed tremendously.
