Default Airline Counter Cause Husband to Miss Flight

So my husband is flying in from PHL today- gets to the airport 2+ hours ahead of time. The check in kiosk wouldn't recognize him, so he was told to go stand in line at the ticket counter. He did and waited for over 2 hours!! Subsequently, he missed his flight - there is no other flights today!! I'm completely appalled at their attitude, they didn't even offer to help him find a different flight, so now he's running around the airport trying to find another flight. This is ridiculous!!!! I would understand if he didn't get to the airport in time, but waiting over 2 hours in line????

Unfortunately this is a very busy time of year for air travel. PHL is a busy airport. There are many inexperienced travels who take extra time for the whole check-in and security screening process. Given the circumstances even arriving 2 hours ahead of time might not be enough.

Was he told why the kiosk wouldn't recognize him? Did he use the correct confirmation? You obviously posted this with a computer. Did he have access to a computer where he was? Did he not realize he could check in online up to 24 hours prior to his departure? When he finally got to speak to an agent did he explain that he tried to use the kiosk but had issues? I don't understand why they wouldn't re-book him on the next available flight, even if that flight was the next day.

I'm not sure you are telling us the whole story.

Default 30 Days And No Follow-up

I think I'm going to initiate a "30 Day Club." These one-time drive-by posters are starting to get annoying. We implore them for more details or to post the resolution to their issue after seeking advice here yet sometimes we hear nothing more from these folks. They have to provide a valid e-mail address when they register to post and are automatically subscribed to the thread they initiate so they are made aware that someone has added to the thread. Yet still, nothing.

So, Jenlv, you are the first inductee into the "30 Day Club." Congratulations! You have the honored distinction having posted no further details to back up your "complaint." We can now assume one of two things. Either your hubby really didn't show up "2+ hours ahead of time" and/or was a complete idiot and couldn't handle the simple task of checking in at a kiosk. Either that or he's now living at Philadelphia International Airport ala Tom Hanks in the movie "Terminal."
