Default Hawaiian Airlines: Avoid it

I had flown with my family from Vegas into Hawaii on October 13th 2007. When I pick my bag up at the airport in Hawaii I found my small luggage bag with all our toiletries in it had been run over & squashed. The bag & everything in it was demolished, Aftershaves, creams, medicines, small souvenirs to mention a few.
At the airport in Honolulu, we approached Hawaiian airlines people to show them the bag. They said it was an accident then threw five of the items in the bin and then put the rest of the stuff in a plastic bag gave it to us & said sorry. They told us we needed to contact our insurance people. Anyway, after arguing for about 90 minutes they decided to offer us $200 & a dirty old second hand bag, in which I declined both offers, as the money would not have even replaced the aftershaves. Also our luggage was matching & cost twice that amount.
To make matters worst they thought it was funny & were very rude to us for refusing the offer; they also deliberately made us wait hopping we would just leave. They just ignored us. Even the form she gave me stated the bag was completely gone. She then had the hide to write that something’s were ok, even though she knew quite well they were not. The bag looked like a bomb had gone off in it, the aerosol cans were flat. She even put a value on the bag at $50. The bag is worth at least twice that & are a matching set.

I have been back now for four weeks trying to recover what is owed to us, without any luck; I have called & spoken with three different people at Hawaiian who all tell me they are going to email me forms. I have also sent five emails since then, But all with no avail.
To be honest they just don't care or want to know about us, not to mention how rude they are about it all. What is so frustrating you cannot even get to first base with these people.

The silly part about all this, it’s the second time we have flown with this mob and both times we have been ripped off by them. Last year 06, we flew from Vegas to Hawaii & paid for first class tickets. When we got to the airport they gave us economy seats & said sorry they had over booked. We were offered flights the next day & cheap accommodation near the airport. This was no good to us as we were only in Hawaii for three days on our way home. Not to mention our accommodation in Hawaii was already booked & paid for at $550 US a night. So, we had no choice but take the economy seats. Little did we realize once you take up a seat you forfeit the difference. We did realize this until we had got back home & spoken to our travel agent. In the end we recovered a little bit of the money from the agent. As for Hawaiian, well they just said “NOTHING” The agent told us they are not good to deal with & they refuse to pay anything.
As silly as this might sound, it is fact! They kept the difference from five first class tickets to economy tickets and refused to pay one cent! If you check you may find this is common with most airlines, only difference most airlines have some decency or morals about them, not this mob!
Also, if you think you are flying first class you are not. Their seats are what you call premium economy along with their food & service.
Being the only airline that fly’s direct from Vegas to Hawaii (half way to Australia) it might be wise to take the longer route. As for me I would rather swim to Australia then fly with these guys again. It is all too painful, not to mention they sure know how to spoil a good holiday.

So, if my option is worth anything, ADVOID HAWAIIAN AIRLINES. I just hope these same people are not servicing the planes.

Good luck!

It's crazy that this is legal: it is like paying for something that you don't get and no refund.... Maybe it is part of their business plan: sell twice as many "First Class" tickets and tell half of the "First" passengers to take a seat in economy. As far as I remember, their so called "First" tickets are 2 or 3 times as expensive. And this is what they are calling "High standard of Ethics...."
