I am very troubled that United Airline can advertise on their website that their passenger will get mileage in their frequent mileage program when the customer purchase a ticket and fly to any destinations. This was not the case. I was given the mileage and then two weeks later United took it away. They told me I paid a cheap price for the ticket and they are not giving me the mileage; that is close to 20,000 mileage for my trip I did not get credited.
The United representative could not point out to me anywhere in their rules that they could change their program like that without pointing the rules out to me. They advertise in plain site on their website about their restriction and it did not say anything about taking back what they gave to me in the first place. This is a case of false advertising and discrimination. My family member that I was traveling with got the mileage on their account. Anyone have a suggestion Thanks, |

Yeah, my suggestions are:
1. Don't select an airline based on their FF programmes. They are not worth it. 2. Write a letter of complaint and copy it to the BBB, but your chances of success are limited. 3. Don't fly United again 4. Drop the "discrimination" part of your claim, the US airlines are equal opportunity scammers and treat all customers equally badly regardless of ethnicity, religion or sexuality. |

Were your flights entirely on United or were they operated by partners? Did you pay the same as your family member for the same ticket or was the fare different?
Airlines' frequent flier plans are full of "fine print." One of the most prevalent provisos to avoid awarding miles pertains to flights on partner airlines. Just because an airline is a partner or member of the same "alliance" doesn't mean that you will earn 100% of the miles flown in your frequent flier account. Usually it is based on the fare paid. Some fares, usually the heavily discounted fares such as those available during a fare sale or by purchasing in advance, may only qualify for 25% or 50% of actual miles. Still others, like fares bought through a blind bidding process on Priceline.com, will net zero miles. If you are going to remain loyal to one airline or alliance in order to accumulate miles, it helps to have a thorough understanding of all of the terms and condiitons of that program. Also be aware that those "T&Cs" can change at any time. It is highly advisable to subscribe to e-mail updates so that you can keep abreast of any changes. |

Thanks for your reply.
Yes to both your questions. We flew United one hundred percent of our trip and yes we paid the same as our family member. We got the ticket from a travel agent out of Dallas Texas. I will try to read up on their fine prints if I can find them on their website. Their website site said that for the class of ticket I have (Q Class) I would earn 100% of mileage. Thanks, |

try to go to their website and fill in the missing milage credit form. when i flew air india, air india told me we get united points, they took my card and put in the number, next thing i knew they didn't...didn't get the miles, UA said they weren't partners, didn't really understand why one airline said one thing and the other another....but i looked and sure enough they aren't partners....ended up signing up for the air india card as well

I don't believe there is a rule that states you cannot get miles based on the type of ticket you've purchased. I have bought tickets through many cheap airfare websites, flown entirely on United, and have gotten full credit for the flight. If this is a new rule you should call the mileage number, speak with a rep and go over the full itinerary to insure you get proper credit.

United.com lists 3 fare classes for which no miles are earned: X, I and O
The OP stated his tickets were booked in Q class so according to United's T&Cs he should receive 100% mileage credit. I would do as was suggested before and submit an online missing mileage claim or mail your boarding passes and a copy of your e-ticket confirmation/receipt to United Mileage Plus @ United Mileage Plus P.O.
