Thumbs down Air Europa - the worst airline ever

I am an avid traveler since I was young. I've traveled in many many airlines, and I have never been treated as bad as with Air Europa.
Not only did they lose my bags more than a year ago but also they have been very rude and unresponsive about my case. In Spain and in my country of origin Venezuela.
In the middle of my dilema they changed headquarters from spain to france. Even with my husband being Spanish and having his European passport, we haven't been able to file a formal complaint. Not through our lawyer or any embassy or customer protection in any of the above listed countries. We have spent hundreds of dollars in international calls and we get bounced around and mistreated again and again.
The worst part is that the miserable compensation they offer for our bags (a baby stroller and our bag valued with credit card vouchers to support it, in more than 3000 euros), 800 euros, they never payed and the manager from their offices in Venezuela is the worst problem handler ever and very mean and uneducated. Not one person in the airline, and we have spoken with more than 20 all over the world, has even said they are sorry or anything less.
This post is the first o many actions me and my husband will take. I plan to write in every forum or page or blog that will listen to what we have to say.
It has been an awful experience for us and the sentimental value of our bag surpasses any compensation they can give.
To complete our problem, the airline made us buy a traveler's insurance that when you call somebody in argentina answers and they couldn't care less about what happened.
I have the biggest file already you can imagine with letters, faxes, emails, etc. that have gone and come back to no avail whatsoever.
This airline AIREUROPA doesn't care about anything or anybody just to save their miserable pennies.

You should consider filing a complaint with the EU about the handling of this by Air Europa.

Try this link http://ec.europa.eu/transport/air/index_en.htm and see if you can find someone who may be able to help.

Good luck..

PS.. Ryanair have already accepted the award as the worst airline in the world, with Delta a close second, but they are all vying for the award!!

I think if you scan each airline sub-forum, there will probably be at lease one review titled "Worst airline". So who's to say??

Default I totally agree with mcfuentes

I am about to travel 120kms to Valencia airport because Air Europa refuses to deliver my bag - it was not on the flight I arrived on 3 days ago from Paris. It did arrive the next day but they kept saying it was in Customs and I would have to wait. Now they tell me that I must go to the airport and pick it up as it is still in customs. The local Guardia Civil where I live phoned the airport police last night and were told that they do not have my bag. It seems this is a ploy used by Air Europa to force you to go to the airport so they dont have the expense of delivering the bag. I phoned them again this morning and was told that f I did not come and get the bag myself then it can just stay there. I have not and do not intend to make a claim for compensation as I know I would just be wasting my time. At least I know where my bag is - unlike mcfuentes! A cheap airline with a cheap attitude. Never again!

Default Air Europa

Hi there
Why am I not surprised by your message -you have my sympathies.
I will certainly never use them again.
Does anyone have any ideas how to get in touch with the Airline Ombudsman or other offical body as I really don't think they should be allowed to get away with it.
Thanks
C

Unhappy Air Europa, Truly the worst airline ever

While leaving Tenerife I was forced by Air Europa, under duress, to pay a baggage charge for a different airline, Qatar Air. The transaction was for EUR 247.00.

The airline Air Europa led me to believe the charge was only EUR 60 and then processed my bags. The Air Europa representative sent me to the cashier and Air Europa insisted I pay the baggage charge for the entire trip even though I would be forced to collect my bags in Barcelona because the second and third legs of my trip are with a comppletely different airline.

Since I am collecting my bags in Barcelona, it was my intent to dispose of many items so I will not have to pay the exorbitant baggage fees of Qatar Air.

Air Europa refused to return my bags in Tenerife so I could repack and lessen my charge. The Air Europa representative threatened to call the police which would make me miss my flight.

The seats in the aircraft didn't recline. There were no headsets jacks on the seats to listen to audio for the monitors. If you push the call button, no one comes. The seats are uncomfortable. I am NOT happy with this airline.

I will also file complaints elsewhere about them.

All you had to do was know your baggage limit. If you intended to unpack and dispose of the items, why ake them to the airport in the first place. The reality is you massively overpacked, hoped to get away with it and it back fired.

Default Unresponsive, persistent dodging

They damaged my brand new luggage to the point of its being beyond repair. I submitted the excessively unnecessary original proofs they asked for.
They claimed never to have received the originals.

Six months later, I sent in a third set of copies (now the fourth submission) via a sworn statement. They eventually agreed to pay - at least in principal.

Now, over a year later, they repeatedly demand information, claiming they will make a wire transfer deposit - I have already sent and re-sent, and still have not paid.
When I returned to Spain and finally found, identified, a physical office address, they refused to allow me to come and settle documents in person. They instead required me to re-mail them to their postal box, which I did.
And they still remain unresponsive to actual payment.

By the way, a danger with a wire transfer deposit is that when you share this information, the person or business that has it can re-access your account also to withdraw, and without your knowledge or permission.

Never again with these people. I've instructed my travel agent and friends, and we have all made alternative arrangements when flying in or through Spain.

By the way #1, they send out and ask to get back a signed release of liability - BUT give no date by which they promise to make payment, and they fail to make full and prompt payment a condition of the release being valid - meaning once they get the release back, they have no incentive to actually pay

By the way #2, a danger with a wire transfer deposit is that when you share this information, the person or business that has it can re-access your account also to withdraw, and without your knowledge or permission.

Default Settlement after a year

Another government agency in Spain confirmed that Agencia Estatal de Seguridad Aérea in MADRID is the agency to contact.
I was now just able to receive a payment without contacting them, but only after writing AirEuropa at its headquarters in Llucmajor,[1] with simultaneous copies to four other regional and municipal government consumer agencies in Mallorca, both in English and Spanish, documenting past correspondence with AirEuropa.
The postage costs become meaningful, unfortunately, as the airline drags things out. There may be a pay-off for those who are persistent. There does seem to be concurrence that Agencia Estatal de Seguridad Aérea is the agency to contact, so try them earlier.
Or try by-passing the airline’s own designated complaint department if initial efforts are unsatisfactory.

Default AIR EUROPA tHE WORST

I have flown with most Airlines and admittedly they all have their issues, but Air Europa is in a League of its own, they are incompetent, rude, and if they reply or answer any of your complaints then you are lucky. How can an organisation damage your property, admit to damaging your property and still refuses to pay up?????????? I must be in a Dream world.

Imagine you getting on a flight and damaging one of the windows

AIR EUROPE IS THE DUMPs
Iam so furious with this Airline
