Seeking passengers with lost luggage on KLM657 Amsterdam-Newark 14 December, 2007
On 14 December, 2007 we took flight KLM 657 from Amsterdam to Newark. Upon arrival to Newark, our luggage did not appear and we were told that a lot of bags had been left behind in Amsterdam. Many passengers from this flight, including ourselves, cleared customs without our luggage. After filing a claim at our final destination, we still, to this date have not had our luggage returned. Our baggage claim numbers do not show up in the world tracing computer system and even though are bags are well labeled with our names and tel numbers, KLM/NWA have not been able to find them. After two weeks of daily phone calls to NWA at Newark airport and at the Central Luggage Service in Minneapolis we still have not gotten past the busy signal. The most helpful people have been the KLM baggage agents in Amsterdam Schipol who, after badgering them for two weeks, have just finally confirmed that of a container holding 40 bags, 30 are still missing from that flight. KLM also confirms that the container made it on flight KLM657 and that the luggage somehow went missing at Newark airport. However, neither NWA or the airline dealing with our claim can confirm this. Even worse, it seems that the communication between airlines, when trying to solve lost luggage issues is nonexistant. Any critical info I have been able to obtain was through personal calls to KLM agents at Schipol airport and I have since relayed this information to the airline managing my claim. NWA agents are unobtainable and unhelpful. How is it that an airline can lose 30 bags from one flight and not notice for two weeks or provide any information to the passengers who are missing their luggage? If there are any other passengers on this flight who are missing their luggage and have more information please contact me. CWFLNF
