Hey all,
Sorry to air my complaints but if I can save someone else some grief, it’s worth it. Evidently, I am not the only consumer with complaints about Delta Airlines. Beware the $200 additional charge for a 13 year old "unaccompanied minor". In addition, they were rude to me and overcharged me for bags when the service representative said they would not because I had an unaccompanied 13 year old child and could not check my bags online. My advise: Avoid Delta. Don't be another unhappy consumer like the ones below. They are ripoff artists and their service people are rude. Its actually cheaper to fly through one of the other airlines and the personnel are much friendlier. See more consumer report complaints for Delta below. http://www.consumeraffairs.com/travel/delta.htm http://industry.bnet.com/travel/1000...ints-in-march/ http://www.airlinecomplaints.org/forumdisplay.php?f=35 http://www.complaintsboard.com/bycom...ta-a14870.html http://www.measuredup.com/review/skymiles-12445 http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/delta...omplaints.html http://article.wn.com/view/2009/07/1...or_complaints/ http://www.city-data.com/forum/trave...int-delta.html http://www.my3cents.com/showReview.cgi?id=57276 http://www.consumercomplaints.in/com...a-c139029.html http://triangle.bizjournals.com/tria...6/daily74.html http://blogs.usatoday.com/sky/2009/0...-to-india.html http://mybiggestcomplaint.com/delta-airlines/ |

First, don't be sorry. This is a complaint board so your allowed to let it out. Second you'll pay that fee no matter what airline you fly, for an unaccompanied minor. Last time I took one of my nieces/nephews on continental, the fee was 75 one-way. And how did they overcharge you for the bag? There is only one set price, unless of course your bags are overweight or oversize. Eventhough your child is a minor, they still pay the same price. Lastly, you can forget about flying on any airline, you'll find similar complaints about all of them, either here or another board.

This is the place to air it out. Unlike most forums, this forum can help those distinguish between the airline screwing up, and the customer screwing up; and what to do about it in the future.
Delta's UA fee seems pretty high, but all airlines charge a fee for UA's. They assign personnel to watch your child and escort them to and from the plane to the person designated to pick them up. Better that then a child being whisked away from the airport by a stranger. |

All airlines don't charge an Unaccompanied Minor fee. My daughter flew on Air France, UA Programme last week. It was free... and it was on a discount air fare.

I think it is great that you let others know about the fees. Unfortunately (or perhaps "fortunately," depending on how one takes it), most of the readers on this site already know about the fees and they are common with most carriers. But don't let this stop you from reporting things you feel are not right about airlines. Much can be learned through discussion.
