Thumbs down Continental Aug 5th 2010 called a ***

I recently 3 days ago was calling customer service for Continental airlines to get my confirmation number so I could pre print my boarding pass. So I called customer service and the person named "caleb" was very rude. He told me I was stupid for not having my paperwork in advance he then said I could check my e-mail and I advised I did not have e-mail access(vacation not work week) and he said oh thats right you are in San Francisco that is such an isolated place I forgot there was NO internet there. I asked him to please give me my confirmation number and he said "no" I asked to talk to a supervisor and he said "no you are in San francisco maybe you would like my penis in your mouth" I got so mad I demanded a superviosr and he said "no you do not need a supervisor you need a confirmation number and you are an idot so NO" I could not believe my ears the hotel concierge or however you spell it was appalled and could not believe what this man just said to me. Yes it was on speaker. I have filed a complaint with my local news, BBB of Houston, informed the FAA and wrote a letter to Mayor Newsome and called and called continental. I will never fly this airline again. I have never been so humiliated in my life.

If so, I not only hope he loses his job, but you should consider a lawsuit to teach them a lesson. Have the hotel concierge write up a sworn deposition, and see a lawyer.

Default Really??

As much as I find defending US-based airlines repulsive, I'm going to give this one a "are you sure about that?"

I wasn't aware Continental was using an India-based call center. "Caleb" sounds a bit Hindu. Maybe Continental and United have started to combine call centers? Anyway, even considering the anti-gay posture of the Hindu culture I think that remark--"...would like ** ***** in your mouth?"--is a bit over the top.

As I mentioned on a previous post: The laws of some states--New Jersey and Wyoming are two--permit recording of phone conversations as long as one party to the call is aware a recording is being made. Thus, in some states, the person you are talking to need not be aware you are recording the call.

Default india-based?

first, if the original poster's account is true then the CO rep needs to be severly disciplined.

second, in response to butch cassidy:
1) nowhere does the OP say that the call-center was India-based. why do you think it is?
2) I have no idea why you think the name 'Caleb' sounds a 'bit Hindu' (whatever that means) and I should know very well.
3) I havent observed that the Hindu religion has any overtly anti-gay 'posture'. Gay pride parades have been held in at least ont indian city with no particualr ill effects on gays. On the other hand in many middle eastern countries the dominant religion there inflicts lashings, imprisonment and worse for homosexual activity.

Summarizing, looks like your anti indian attitudes come through very clearly.

forgot to add to my previous item 2 below that while 'caleb' doesnt sound like a hindu name to me, i know for certain that it is a 100% christian name used by many caucasian americans. i live in a large southern city in the usa and know a couple of Calebs

Default A clarification

…your anti indian attitudes come through very clearly

First, it was not my intention to come across as anti-Indian, or anti-Hindu. Given the present state of affairs in Pakistan I think the USA can benefit through friendship and close ties with India. Certainly our two countries share a common problem with respect to Islamic extremist violence. While it’s my understanding that the Hindu faith promotes peace and non-violence my understanding was that sexuality issues in general were very much taboo as recent as 70 years ago. Your comments, aardvark, suggest that, like some religions, a degree of progressiveness has been accepted by Hindus.

My comment about the combining of call centers was based on my understanding that United Air maintains a (contract) call center in India.
