I sent this to Delta on February 5, 2010 with no reply.
My husband and I had a trip booked from Syracuse, NY to Orlando, FL from January 22nd - January 29th, 2010. Our first flight was supposed to be Delta 5525 from Syracuse to Atlanta. Our connecting flight was supposed to be Delta 1305 Atlanta to Orlando, to leave Atlanta at 9:55am and arrive in Orlando at 11:33am. We boarded the plane at 5:30am, only to sit there until 5:55am. We were then informed by the pilot that there was a mechanical issue with the plane - an oil leak. They told us to get off the plane and we would beinstructed when to reboard. The time passed where we would comfortably be able to make our connection (it was nearing on 7:30am) and there was nothing to be done with this flight. We got another connection at 11:55am. Then the timekept passing.. until 9:30am.. and we went to the desk to get another connection. We did, at 12:55pm out of Atlanta. Still, no information given to us, the time was passing. We went up tothe desk again to get yet another rebooking, but this was getting ridiculous. The woman at the front desk agreed - she decided to rebookALL passengers through USAirways. We were rebooked through USAir and they more than accommodated us - theflight they rebooked for us left at 1:30pm (8 hours after our scheduled departure time) and when USAir realized this was running late as well they rebooked us immediately, calling us up to the front desk and booking us through a different connection. We were inconvenienced, losing our first FULL day of vacation - which we had planned for over a year. Because of this we lost preference on ourhotel room. We did not arrive into Orlando until 7:30pm, instead of the planned 11:30am. We were very unhappy with the service Delta provided - but this would not prove to be the last disservice by Delta. On our final day, my husband and I went to check in at our Walt DisneyWorld resort, they have an airline check-in, for our 6:30pm flight on Delta 1328 from Orlando to Atlanta. We were told that the flight had been canceled - and to call Delta to find out what accommodations have been made. We called Delta and spent OVER TWO HOURS on the phone on our last day in Florida, because when THEY HAD CANCELED our outbound flight from Syracuse to Orlando, they also canceled our RETURNING flight from Orlando to Syracuse! After 125 minutes on the phone we were told that they "found" seats for us on another flight. Delta had sold our original seats on the way home. Why on earth would our returning flight be canceled? That was beyond unprofessional. So 9 hours of our vacation time (and nearly 2 days) was wasted because of inconveniences with Delta. We were given $100 vouchers, one each, and we were told that was the maximum compensation. No, I disagree. Delta offers people to give up their seats on a plane for a FREE ticket anywhere in America. We were not offered - we were volunteered. Our flights were canceled and our vacation time was forfeited. |

Delta are supremely arrogant and simply don't care. I wouldn't accept a voucher.. you would have to fly with them again. They are a nightmare...

That's the whole issue - if we were to fly with them ever again, it would have to be a complimentary trip. If not, the vouchers are just good to line my cat box, as I'm not forking over any of my cash for a flight that I know will just be canceled/delayed/rescheduled.
