Spirit demanding illegal usage fees EVEN if purchased at the counter
We purchased tickets at the counter for RT domestic flights. I was issued the tickets and receipt, but when I attempted check-in online, the site said an agent had to be contacted. When I dialed customer service, 'ken' in India demanded additional payment of $35.96 for the usage fees that weren't paid. Even though he acknowledged the fees were illegal to collect if the tickets were bought in-person at the counter, Spirit would place a hold on our tickets unless we paid them off. I e-mailed Spirit airlines customer service, but have yet to see a non-automated response.
I've retained an attorney for this matter as Spirit went beyond its normal bad service and is now breaking the law as a normal business practice. If anyone else has experienced similar loss by Spirit Airlines feel free to contact me.
