Discriminatory specials
Alaska Airlines Club 49 gives special practices and pricing only too Alaks residents. These include 2 free bags anywhere they travel 2, 30% off coupons yearly and weekly special pricing not availible to anyone else. They are not giving these special away to lose money so the 80% or more customers not living in Alaska will be paying higher fares to foot the bill. If Alaska feels that non alaskan customers are inferior then cut out all but Alaska routes and see how long they last. Customers in the Northwest are limited to Horizen(now Alaska) and recieve nothing special. I personally do not think I should pay for someone else to have free bags etc.

That is an interesting angle, that specific offers based on localities or membership of a club is discriminatory. I am not sure it is and Alaska is somewhat unusual in being totally cut off from the rest of the US by Canada, so perhaps that is something of a justification.

Jealous much? An airline does what it can to help alleviate the very high cost of living in Alaska, and you're upset? Here's where part of your complaint breaks down: Alaska MVP's get free bags, and other special deals. It's a perk that's earned. Alaska residents earn their perks living where they do.
There are other airlines, help yourself. |

Why do you think living in one state vs another earns you special rewards? MVP's are rewarded for the miles they fly no matter where they live.

Let's see. Alaska Airlines. State of Alaska. Call me crazy, but I see a connection.
Just about every airline has given perks that not everyone can take advantage of. |

Alaska Airlines is based out of Seattle and flies at least ten times the number of flights out of Seattle than the entire state of Alaska. If they owe Alaskans anything it would be because they ran all the small airlines out thus the high prices between Alaska ans Seattle.

Yes, they are based out of SEATAC, but they continue to have a very close tie to the state of Alaska.

What about Military fliers? They receive special treatment. Do you begrudge this group just because of where they are employed?
