Overbooked!
We bought tickets in August for tickets from Omaha to Tampa via Denver thru Travelocity. We had confirmation from both United and Travelocity. The day before the trip United sent an email telling us to check in, which we did. My husband had a seat assignment but I did not even though we did with the confirmation. I asked about it at the ticket counter and was told not to worry. I asked again at the gate and was told not to worry. Finally after they boarded the plane I was given a boarding pass. I got on the plane and there was someone on the sear assigned to me-14 rows behind my husband. The stewardess told me the other guy had a boarding pass (aside I didn't) and then yelled at the gate attendant. He grabbed the microphone and asked if anyone would get off for $300 credit. After a nice young lady got off and much shuffling (no one was with their travel partner) we were on our way but not via Denver as booked, but via Newark! It was embarrassing and the stewardess was very unprofessional. On our way home neither of us had seat assignments but thankfully we got home. I've been traveling for twenty years and have never seen such chaos!
