Default Real-time report on my trip

Thought I'd try something a little different. I have no complaint, yet. But I just purchased a ticket to Richmond, VA and will give a play by play of each contact between myself and Delta as well as my travel. Stay tuned to this thread for updates as they happen.

I purchased my ticket online. I chose my seats with no additional charge. I have one middle out of the 4 segments I have booked so I will be attempting to change that periodically before my travel date. The sale went flawlessly. No double charges, hidden charges, seat charges, etc.

More to follow......

I'm stuck with the seats I have so as there are only a few days left before my departure, I'll have to try to change it on the day of departure or 23hrs 59min before, when they open up online check-in.

True to my luck, a snowstorm is forecast for my return on Monday. I fully expect that to screw up my flights somehow. I just hope DL will come through somehow to make things work as smoothly as possible. hahahahahahahaha.

I checked in online seamlessly at exactly 23hrs 59min to my departure. I even gave them another 19usd to move out of my middle seat, up 3 rows into a window on the '2' side. I am now only 3 rows from the front and all seems to be going ok so far.

This putting everyone in the middle seat and demanding money to get out of it is outrageous.

I would have been happy to stay in my middle but I wanted to move more forward. And they didn't demand it, I voluntarily clicked to pay for it.

Trip is complete. Not a single issue on the outbound. Flights were on-time, employees were not confrontational, stupid or lying. On the return, the first flight was delayed initially about 40 minutes. I received an automated call and an email saying so. It was then updated to about 10 minutes late and received a call an email again. Flight took off maybe 15 minutes late, I had just over an hour at my transfer point, hustled to my next gate, had time to get a sandwich and was flown to my final destination without incident. I would buy another Delta ticket.

I didn't do it to throw it in Jim's face. In fact, I was trying to avoid Delta but their schedule fit mine better. I plan on going again in the near future and will hopefully be able to try another carrier into a city closer to where I need to be next time.

I'll survive Gromit....!! In a way I hope the Judge does go via Delta again next time. What defines an airline is not what happens when things go smoothly. It is what happens when things go wrong. When things go badly, Delta runs a mile and many of their employees adopt an aggressive "blame the passenger/weather/ATC/Anyone but us" attitude. Let's see what happens when the Judge has to experience the real Delta. I flew with them at least 4 times before I was abandoned in Atlanta, thousands of miles from home. It will happen.... sooner or later!

You have gotten your hope, jimworcs. I have purchased another ticket for travel on DL for an outbound on the 22nd of this month and return on the 25th. Transfer point, ATL in both directions. I shall keep you updated.

So far, so good again. Purchase went off without a hitch. Got my free seats assigned, all windows. I purposefully put in a long transfer time, something these complainers on here should do then we'd have less of them.

Seems to be no interest in my thread here since things are going well at the moment.

I leave tomorrow morning. Online check-in went smoothly. Changed a seat on the connecting flight with no issues. I am thinking of buying a day pass for the lounge as I'll have 2 hours before my first flight and almost 2 1/2 hours at my layover point. The free alcohol is enticing.

Anyway, all's well, so far.

At the airport as I type this. Flight shows on-time and is sitting at the gate. I tried to buy a one-day club pass online last night but for some reason, it would not accept my card. The same card I purchased the ticket with. But not to worry, what seemed like a bad thing turned into a good thing when I got to the terminal. I used the self-serve kiosk to buy the one-day pass, with the same card I just spoke about and it was 11 dollars less!! Thank you DL for that serendipity!!

Stupid laws in the local city I'm in make it illegal to serve alcohol before 6am so I will not be able to partake until my layover city in a few hours from now.

I'll keep anyone who may be reading this, posted.

i have been following so your typing isnt going unseen

que jimworcs going on about the extra fee's you pay online if you want to get into the lounge and how its some big monopoly thing and price discrimination

he must be going crazy, nothing has gone wrong while every delta flight or staff or anything dealing with delta is suppose to go wrong and be a nightmare or else you dont experience the real delta

well i guess you will be kicked off the plane for saying hi to the flight attendant :P

Pay more to buy in advance? Typical? I thought it was common to pay less when you buy advance. And I wanna drink at 6am when I'm on vacation. Hell, I'd prefer to be buzzed every minute I'm not working.

Anyway, trip's over. Return back home was uneventful. Both flights were on-time, early actually. No rude employees, no lost luggage, I took personal responsibility and didn't lose anything so I didn't have to have anything stolen by a lying, thieving employee. Two trips on that satan called Delta and 2 trips everything went great on. I'd still buy another ticket on them.

Or, it could be that Delta were rude, obnoxious and thieving, but you were too "buzzed" to notice!!! lol
