$9 Club Scam
I enrolled and paid $59.95 for a 1 year subscription to the $9 Club on 2/27/2011. I realized right away it was a scam. There were no $9 flights. I cancelled the membership by calling Spirit Airlines. They have record of my calls. I called AMEX to cancel and dispute. Amex has the complaint on file. It was no use.
On 2/27/2012 Spirit charged my AMEX account again for $59.95. I called them within the hour of receiving a alert from AMEX. They would not cancel. I called Amex again. They forced them to cancel but Spirit would not refund the membership fee. They claim they sent me a renewel notice. I didn't get any. They (Spirit) claim when you cancel you're supposed to get a e-mail confirming the cancellation. I am still waiting.
This is white collar crime. I wonder how DOT allows them to operate.
