Fewer airports and better weather. The Islands usually get a brief rain almost ever day but it's usually not enough to interfere with operations very much.
Alaska usually does well over the summer. Once they get fog in southeast AK and it's sub-zero in the northern cities their reliability goes down somewhat.

Now they are first amongst those considered "legacy airlines" however I'd say both Alaska and Frontier are really network airlines. I guess they can use almost any language to make them look good.
