I have just flew home from Orlando airport tonight January 19, 2008 and am very disapointed in how my baggage arrived at the St. Louis airport. To begin with their was a very large rain storm in Orlando and I noticed my luggage sitting with others outside in the rain. When we received out luggage after landing my brand new luggage was completely soaked. I then returned home to find that all of my clothing and many of the souveniers that I had bought were all wet and ruined. I am very unhappy at this time and think that something should be done to rectify this. because of this weather they new that our flight would not be leaving for an additional hour and should have taken the proper and decent way of handeling all of our luggage. I would like to be contacted on this matter and I feel that I should be treated with respect when flying. The service was terrible and the flight attendents were very rude. I do not think that I will be flying Southwest again unless something is done to correct this situation.

It's entirely possible that a "code red" was in effect if the storm was as bad as you purport it to be. "Code red" is declared usually whenever there is a lightning strike detected by radar within a five mile radius of the airport complex. When in effect, Employees on the ramp are instructed to immediately stop what they are doing and seek safety indoors. Although baggage carts are equipped with tarps to protect Customers' luggage from the elements, if a "code red" was implemented suddenly, the bags might have been left uncovered until it was again safe to return to the ramp. Nonetheless, it's unfortunate your bag and its contents were soaked.
