Default how to improve?

How to improve:

1. Provide another plane when the one that is supposed to fly is broken.
2. Do not call cells of entire frequent flyer members alerting them about a delayed flight when only one is flying (especially at 5 AM for a 9:00 flight).
3. Do not delay the baggage pickup for 2-1/2 hours after the lightning has stopped
4. Have wide-hipped flight attendants lose weight so they don't ram into every passenger they pass by in the aisle.

Interesting list especially #4. I do agree, however, with numbers 2 and 3. #1 is a case of logistics. Planes have routes and are planned a few days in advance. Taking one to replace another could cause a domino effect so the decision is made to cancel or delay the broken plane's flight.

Where is the plane in #1 supposed to come from? What airline has the money to have multi-million dollar planes sitting around doing nothing, waiting to be used in case of a breakdown? And even if there were, there couldn't be one at every airport. Good grief, can you imagine if every airline had a spare plane sitting at every airport they fly into? There wouldn't be enough parking space, and the airline size would double. Or, if you wish, the stand-by plane is kept somewhere else. Well now they have to get it prepared for flight, find a crew, and get it on it's way. Maybe several hours before you see it, in which time you have probably been rebooked on another flight. Guess who's paying for all of that, ultimately, the ticket buyer.

Default Extra Planes

I have to laugh, Mr. Apologist! Of course no airline would ever have extra airplanes for ones that "break," but is it too much to ask that they not have their fleet consist of rejects made in 1981? I boarded a US Airways plane that had no screens for passengers, ripped up seats and looked like a 1942 WWII jet. If the plane was powered by coal, I would not have been surprised. My cramped legs from the flight barely held up as I walked away from this relic. Breakdowns? It's amazing that this antique could fly. The Wright Brothers would have been embarrassed.
