Default Revolution hero treated like a dog by Aerlingus

My name is Alex Coroliu and I’m writing you on behalf of my father in law. He was kicked out of the flight EI0673 from Bucharest to Dublin on Friday 27th of April 2012 and left, like a dog, without any assistance, to sort himself out. This was very difficult for someone who is 72 years old. He was accused of being drunk because, at his age, he had trouble climbing the steep stair to the plain which was used instead of the tunnel in order for AerLingus to save “a few bucks”.

The employees were quick to treat him like a war criminal although none of them helped him to climb the stairs.
The incident described above left my father in law,a decorated Revolutionary hero deeply traumatized since he was never subjected to such appalling treatment in his 72 years of life. I do not know if this is the company policy to ostracize the elderly but I’m hopping to get more explanation from them.

Every country, including Romania, I'm sure, has laws regarding passengers with disabilities. If Aer Lingus used the stairs instead of a jet bridge, they are responsible for providing a method to ascend the stairs for passengers who are unable to do so. Maybe you should contact the proper authority to file a complaint.

If you had requested asssitance for his disability, AerLingus were in breach of EU law. However, there is one aspect you don't address. Was your father, hero of the revolution, inebriated? It comes down to that. The airline has the absolute right to refuse embarkation to anyone considered unfit to fly due to alcohol misuse. It is not unusual for a passenger to think they are fine to fly and the staff to think otherwise.
