Leather handles ripped off, metal frame bent, inside glass broken. Poor little bag. Sent a complaint to the company a month ago and no response.

Did you file a claim at the airport? Most airlines require that you file a damage claim at the airport, no later than 4 hours after arrival.

you sent a complaint? You should have walked right over to baggage department right after the flight and shown them what damage was done. I doubt they will take your complaint seriously if you sent in a complaint after the fact.

you should have dealt with it at the airport. most airlines wont do anything about it after it leaves the airport,you should have filed a claim right there and then, then the airline may have done something for you. for all they know you took it home and did it yourself, they wont do anything about it after you leave the airport, its out of their hands

To add;
Airlines usually will not cover damage done to handles, straps, wheels, zippers, or anything else that protrudes from the bag. They also usually do not cover tears along a seam. They also do not cover damage to items inside of the bag, especially fragile items, such as glass. The airlines recommend not to pack that kind of stuff, and since they don't have control over what you pack, in the first place, they do not cover it. If the "metal" frame was bent, however, they probably would have covered that. However, you must file a damage claim with the airline, at baggage service, or the ticket counter, upon arriving, and discovering that your bag is damaged. If you leave the airport, at all, the airline will not cover the cost/repair/replacement, thereafter. What most people fail to remember, is that the purpose of luggage, besides holding all of your stuff, it is to protect your stuff. The luggage is designed to take wear, and tear, so that the items inside, do not, unless you have fragile items inside, that aren't, at least, packeged properly. Airlines have to stack bags on top of bags inside of the aircraft bins, and inside of the carts, to trasport them from aircraft, to aircraft, and to baggage claim. Luggage is going to receive wear, and tear. Aside from complete destruction of the bag, airline do not cover wear, and tear. |
