Thumbs down Delta says one thing at time of purchase, but another after

I bought a return ticket through a travel agent. Delta Airline's rule stipulated it costs $300 to change my return date. I call Delta in North America and they advise me to call my travel agent directly. On this call I also confirm many seats are available 5 days away for my preferred return date. My travel agent advises me to call Delta in Korea so it can be quicker to issue and process my request, etc. On the phone, Delta in Korea advises me that there are no flights available 5 days away. At this time it is approx. 12 hours after the call I made to the North American Delta office....so I ask the Delta agent, when is the next possible time to change to an available flight? She tells me 10 days away and that I have to pay an extra $742 for a fare difference?? She also tells me that there is nothing available until this flight which is 10 days away. I have a hard time believing this so I go to Delta's website to search on my own while I'm on the phone with the Delta agent....so she was right, 5 days away there were no seats available however 6 days away there were seats available to be sold to the public?? These seats were also on the same flight number and flight route. I then explained my findings from their website to the Delta agent immediately and she said "my system shows there are no seats available, so sorry" I just had to disagree with here because I was staring right at the flight search results on Delta dot com.

So she began to tell me there was nothing she could do...I requested to speak to a supervisor...after 5 minutes the same Delta agent came back and said that if I wanted the seat that was 6 days away, I needed to pay an extra $2032. Or I could pay $742 for the seat which is 10 days away?? I am a paying customer, with the change date option, and at the time of purchase Delta Airline's rule was $300 to change it.

If Delta Airlines stipulates one fee at the time of purchase, why do they insist I have to pay even more just to change the return date? (if the seat is confirmed available to be sold to the public, as we cannot expect to kick anyone out of their seat)

I am already a paying customer to them!! It is one thing to sell a seat for the first time at a certain price to a new customer, the company can say how much the ticket costs and state their rules....I get that, however shouldn't companies honour what they say at the time of purchase and take care of their existing customers??

I'm a really annoyed Delta Airlines customer that has already decided that they will NOT use Delta Airlines again.

And just in case a Delta Airlines employee in charge of reading complaints (if such employee even exists) happens to stumble across my complaint post, I would like them to know that I am a Delta customer that flies every 1-2 months from North America to Korea for business. And just in case you failed math class, this is a potential loss of 9-12 thousand dollars a year for Delta Airlines. But who cares right? Delta just says pay more to existing customers!?!

Sincerely,

A really annoying and upset Delta Airlines customer!
