I do not usually complain or want something for a minor delay but yesterday was overboard. I was delayed in Toronto on AC125 going to Calgary, no reason was given, the staff did not know why. So it was delayed 2 hours and then we sat another hour on the runway. I then missed my connection to Fort Mcmurray from Calgary on AC8377. They rebooked me on the 22:40 flight leaving Calgary. That flight was then delayed and boarding was supposed to start at 11:35pm as per my ticket, we didn't board until 12:30am, again no reason was given. So I had no ride to pick me up at the airport and had to take a $50 cab ride home. I got home at 3:00am, I'm supposed to be at work by 5:00am. So I did not work today, I do not get vacation or sick days. So I lost out on my wages for today which is
approx $x00. I could say I would never fly with you guys again but I'm sure I will and I'm sure something like this may happen again. I just want to be compensated for my cab ride home and also my lost wages for today as I was around 7 hours delayed and for a reason no one knows. Please contact me asap. |

Doesn't Transport Canada or the Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) require that airlines must give a reason for a delay? It's somewhat hard to believe that no reason was given nor were the employees aware of the reason for the delay. If it's true that weren't told the reason then a complaint to the CTA is in order.
As for your request for compensation I doubt that is going to be granted. You said you had transportation arranged for your original arrival time. Of course it is inconvenient for someone to drive to the airport at a late hour to pick you up but the choice to take a taxi home was yours. As for the missed day of work because you arrived home so late...I'm not even going to comment on that. You might get a travel voucher to use on a future flight but that's all you should expect. |

No the girls working the counter in Toronto had no idea why it was cancelled, I asked twice.
I got a voucher for $200, reimbursed for my cab, a meal and 20% off my next 2 flights up to 2 people. |

Not bad. All in all I'd say you were fairly compensated. I'd still file a complaint with CTA, however. The fact that an agent of the airline could not, or would not, tell you the reason for a delay is inexcusable.

There is always a reason why a flight is disrupted, an airlines always knows where its planes are. Counter staff are to make announcements as soon as there is a disruption and then every 15-20min afterwards to keep new arrivals informed. I'm glad you got something out of this, there is never a good reason -not- to keep you informed..
