Our flight was delayed by 6 hours, so we missed our connecting flight from London To Inverness. Even though our luggage was checked through(and arrived),we were denied boarding and had to pay again for that flight. I have been e-mailing back and forth with US Airways trying to get a refund for this second ticket. I have sent the documentation they requested and have not gotten a response in over a month. This has been going on since July. I think they're just waiting for me to give up. Well, not without letting as many people as possible know about US Airways lousy customer service. We will never fly with them again. If you know of any other agencies or media I should contact, please let me know.
Thanks. |

If this was purchased as a single ticket, with luggage checked through you are entitled to a refund. Are you based in the UK or the US? If in the US start by writing to the DOT, and notifying US Airways by certified letter thay have 30 days to respond to your claim or you will file in Small Claims Court. If in the UK, file a complaint with

Thanks for the info. The ticket was not a single ticket but they did check through our luggage because Flybe is a partner. Airlines should make people aware if they book separately they are not responsible if you miss your connecting flight. I never knew this, and I don't recall ever seeing this info when booking. I still may try the certified letter.

It pays to fly on non-US carriers when flying to the EU. Had you been flying on an EU carrier you could have claimed for the six hour delay, under EU Regulation 261/04. The DOT in the US is very weak in protecting consumer rights in aviation, no doubt as a result of the massive bribes (or lobbying as the call it) paid by the airlines.
US carriers are badly regulated, provide a poor service and not particularly competitive on price. |

Amen to that. We will fly an EU carrier next time.
Thanks. |
