Default Lost Carry-On Item

I was on a long international flight this week, and somehow managed to leave my brand new tablet computer on the plane when I got off. I was so tired, that I didn't even notice that I had left it until the next morning. I am still angry at myself for this mistake. It was left on the seat, so if it wasn't taken by any passengers, they should have found it pretty easily...

Any suggestions or success stories for retrieving a lost item? I have filled out the Delta lost items form on their website, but reviews I have found don't give me any hope. Is there really any value to go to the airport? I live about 2 hours away from the airport where I landed.

It is very frustrating and disappointing to me that you have no way to track your lost items claim and cannot talk to anyone in person.

Thanks for any insight!

I wish you luck in recovering your lost item Emilie, but I don't hold out much hope. You face two problems... thievery in the airline industry is rife and many FA's and ground staff see lost property as a "perk of the job". The second problem is the management of the airlines who despite the massive scale of the problem turn a blind eye. I think you will be very lucky to recover this item. Plus it is Delta, which has an anti-passenger culture.

I believe you're forgetting about a couple hundred other thieves. Why in the world would you discount all the other passengers if it's laying on a seat while all the people are filing right by a tablet laying in the wide open? Very discriminatory line of thinking to believe that a fellow traveler would just walk right by it and go right to an employee to blame. Typical.

I like this game, but I bet if you carried on Judge you would run out of passenger theft stories before airline employee theft stories....

Obviously.......my point is........there are way more passengers on the plane than crewmembers. The odds pretty much even out then with 250+ passengers and 10 crew.
