Angry DragonAir Massive Cancel Flights and Ask Me to Pay

I have been a loyal customer of DragonAir and Cathay Pacific Airline for
many years.

I was notified by DragonAir via SMS that my flight from Shanghai to Hong
Kong (KA893) was cancelled while I was in taxis on my way to the Shanghai
Pudong Airport at about 5:00pm on 26 June, 2014. When I arrived the
airport at around 5:30 pm, the DragonAir check-in counters was in chaotic
situation with hundreds of travelers queueing in many forms of queues,
making enquiry and complaining.

I saw the DragonAir announcement posted in a display board in the check-in
area that all the flights from 4:00pm onward were cancelled. And the
reason stated by DragonAir was "Traffic Flow Control". And the Dragonair
staffs walked around and distributed to me and other waiting customers a
coupon to get dinner in nearby restaurants. They asked us to come back at
7:00 to check latest status. I did come back at 7:00pm and waited in one
of the queue for another 30 minutes and get the reply that I should come
back at around 8:00pm to check status. I did come back at 8:00pm but got
the vague answer that all flight was cancelled and there may be a chance
that a flight can fly to Hong Kong after midnight. The Dragonair staff
asked travelers to come back at 9:00 to check status.

From 8:30 pm, the check-in area was absolutely in chaotic situation with
hundreds of angry travelers shouting and complaining. I cannot get hold
of any of the staff anymore. Because I need to travel to Hong Kong
urgently to attend a meeting early morning on 27 June, 2014, I decided to
call my secretary to ask her to book another flight flying from Shanghai
Pudong to Shenzhen. I was lucky that I confirmed the booking of China
Eastern Airline (MU5367) flying from Shanghai Pudong to Shenzhen departed
at 21:20, thus I need to run at my fastest speed from Shanghai Pudong T2
Terminal to the T1 Terminal and I did successfully travel the China
Eastern Airline MU5367 to Shenzhen then crossing border to Hong Kong.
What a day!! Moreover, I also get hold of solid proof that actually there
were flights from China Eastern Airlines, Shanghai Airlines and Hong Kong
Express Airline able to fly successfully from Shanghai Pudong to Hong Kong
International Airport
from 6:00 pm to 24:00 on 26 June, 2014. I doubted very much why the
"Airport Traffic Control" only affected DragonAir but not the other
Airlines? Moreover, this is not the first time. This chaotic situation
of canceling flights from Shanghai to Hong Kong always happened in the
past 2 months with very poor; not well prepared; lack of caring mentality
by this terrible Airline!!

Later I found out that my original DragonAir ticket was a 14 days tickets
and I needed to re-book the flight within 14 days. However, I called and
wrote complaint letters to Marco Polo Club, DragonAir Website Compliant
Leave Message many times from Early July up to today, but the Marco Polo
Club staffs insisted that I should rebook within 14 days and I should pay
extra fee in order to use that leg of ticket that I have not used. Thus
I have written formal complaint letter to DragonAir/Cathay Pacific on 11
July, 2014 demanding formal apology from DragonAir and Marco Polo Club
plus waiving the re-booking fee and/or upgrade fee for that trip.

However, up to today 26 July, 2014, I have received no reply from Marco
Polo nor DragonAir/Cathay Pacific.
