Default American Airlines International Economy

I am about to go to Dehli on American Airlines. I am going to be in Economy and i am going on a 777 non stop. I heard that we get to have a personal tv.
I heard somewhere that you have to pay $2 for a headphone. Is that true?
Even if i do bring my own headphones do i have to have a 2 jack converter?
I tried calling the airline, but they told me nothing.

I think you might get your question answered by posting to the Ameican Airlines forum at FlyerTalk.com. This forum is for posting and discussing specific complaints against the airlines.

Default AA to Delhi? Are you a masochist??

Almost all coach passengers pay for headsets nowdays. Indeed I would consider a charge of $2 as a bargain! Even if you bring your own headset you will probably still be asked to pay the $2. If you dare to object, and you are travelling on AA, there is a reasonable chance the flight attendant will threaten you with arrest.

If it's not too late I would try to switch to Lufthansa ("LH")--even though there's a connection in Frankfurt. If it were me I would, gladly, pay the $150 - $200 change fee AA charges. If you're not starting your trip at an airport served by LH then you could use AA for transportation to the "gateway" airport. About 15 - 20 years ago AA lost the ability to relate to customers on any kind of a civilized basis. Indeed some AA flight attendants proudly refer to themselves as "Sky Nazis." If you have the money, make arrangements to have an attorney meet your flight in Delhi. AA has become the ultimate example of a police state at 30,000 feet.

If you are a Sikh I would consider the potential for being (illegally) thrown off the aircraft if you use AA or any other US-based carrier. Sadly, a lot of Americans are too ignorant to understand that we have a common adversary.

If travel on a US-based carrier is unavoidable Continental (non-stop NewarkDelhi) is probably the least of all the evils.

Stay tuned for the airline sympathizer rebuttal.

Butch, sounds to me like this is planned, ticketed and a done deal. The cost of changing the tickets at this point is probably prohibitive.

Even if it were an option I doubt AA would re-book a passenger, except in the case of a mechanical delay/cancellation where "Rule 240" was invoked, on Lufthansa or Continental. Perhaps on another member of the oneworld alliance but not on a Star Alliance (LH) or SkyTeam (CO - soon to be Star Alliance) member airline.

Perhaps when they return from the trip the OP can post a brief account of their travel experience on AA.

Skram, you do nothave to pay for the headphones if you bring your own and also bring a 2 jack converter, if you have, just in case you need might it. I doubt you'll get arrest for NOT buying headphones and even if the air stewards threaten arrest, the police would more than likely laugh it off as a joke.

Have flown AA dfw to london and Paris (777 and 767) and they don't charge if you use your own headsets, on the London flight they were actually packaged with pillow and blanket(this was in coach). When I have flown them on domestic flights that had entertainment they tell you, you can use your own or if you don't have one they would sell you one to keep and use in the future on flights at no charge.
One flight attendant once told me they encourge people to use their own cause they are better for your ears then the ones they sell. She said the mostly have them to sell for people who dont have their own, I use both my IPOD earphones and my Boise Noise earphones in their system.

i just flew AA from LAX-tokyo and they didn't charge for the headsets. i was also on a 777. had my own personal tv too...good entertainment, i didn't sleep the entire flight, good movies to pick from. the leg room was pretty good too, better than british airways or Lufthansa IMO.
