Etihad charge 50usd for every kg of overweight baggage.

They are the only company I have ever flown with that weighed my guitar and charged me extra for travel. They told me it could not fit on the plane and would have to be checked in. I asked them to check it at the gate. They allowed me, I asked an attendant to make an exception and let me take my guitar on the plane. No problem, it fit easily into a storage place on the plane that I have used on every flight I have taken with my guitar.

The weight of my bass cost me 500 usd alone.

On top of this I had two normal bags to check. I was 10kg overweight. That's another 500usd. For the price of my ticket I could have bought a seat for my baggage.

A friend I was travelling with is a us citizen. She told me she felt my bag and it was much heavier than mine. Because she is a us citizen the fee did not apply.

I am a frequent flyer, I have travelled the world with my guitar. Never have I come across such ridiculous fees.
