I bought round trip tickets 2 months ago, I cannot use the outbound flight but still need the return flight. AA automatically cancels the entire itinerary if a flight is missed. They make NO allowances. I will be on a different AA flight, a longer more expensive one at that, the same day which is why I can't use the outbound flight. I still need the return flight home, which they automatically cancel. I called customer service 3 times and they will not budge. The itinerary HAS to be changed to a one-way and cost double the original price of the ticket in change fees and new fare difference. The supervisor demanded I cancel one itinerary as I am double booked, but I needed time to discuss the situation with the two separate parties who paid for the tickets. He would not allow for this and demanded I decide which itinerary to cancel. I did not agree to cancel either, so he chose one and cancelled it on his own. These flights are for my work! It is not for me to decide and certainly not for HIM to decide. American Airlines is run by pirates and thieves. This is unforgivable.
