Thumbs down refund/exchange policy stinks!!

Won't give money back on airfare differential and charge $150.00 for any change---guess this is where they make up for any increase in overhead costs---wouldn't use this airline again---stinks too because you know their employees and relatives get big breaks on their traveling---i'm sure they don't pay the $150.00 exchange fee

$150 to change a domestic ticket is pretty standard in the industry right now. AA, DL, NW, CO, UA and US all charge $150. CO does give you a voucher for the difference if the fare decreases but you won't get a refund.

The comparison you make to employee travel doesn't hold water because they travel standby and are never guaranteed a seat.

We were offered (at the airline I worked for, I can't speak of others) 1 confirmed free trip a year for the employee and immediate family (spouse, children who were still eligible) but it had to be booked in L class. Not many L class seats allowed on each flight. And also, there was 100.00 change fee at the time. May have now gone up since the revenue customer change fee is 150.00. So please don't insuate to know what you obviously don't.

As PHXFlyer said, employees travel standby also. That meant, to me, I had to plan for an extra day off or 2 on either side of my trip to make sure I got back to work on time. That means taking more days off, sometimes without pay to have the honor to watch the plane taxi away without you. This is not to mention extra hotel nights to pay for. It also means creative routing to get where you wanna be. I one time had to take 6 airplanes over 42 hours to get where I wanted to be. I won't go into the pay cuts and benefit cuts taken either.

So, employee travel is not all you think it is.

Lets not drift into the idea that because "everyone" does it, that makes it right. The fee is extortionate compared to the costs incurred by the airline and is a function of their power, not of the market.

True, Jim, but when "everyone" does it, we're kind of stuck as to who we're going to fly based on those charges.
